assessment and treatment
Clinical Assessment of a client's concerns, personal history, mood, sleep, and coping skills will take place during the first one to two psychology sessions. The assessment consists of a clinical interview and completion of standardized psychological tests. Feedback about the assessment findings and any recommendations for treatment will be shared. This process will guide the creation of a tailored treatment plan.
Individual Psychology Counselling Sessions are offered to address concerns identified during the assessment. Clients will be asked to reflect on their goals for therapy at the start of treatment. Therapy may involve the following:
emotional support
strategies to examine and modify any unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours
examining relationship patterns
building awareness of emotional reactions
psychoeducation
stress reduction approaches such as biofeedback, relaxation training
prolonged exposure therapy
coping skills training
mindfulness based approaches
